( A guide on what to wear this holiday season)
By: Jay Iyema
The holidays are sneaking up on us. Although this holiday season will be like no holiday before because the way we interact has changed. Meaning we won’t be able to attend all the fabulous holidays parties hosted by great friends, or enjoy dinner with familiy. But because everything has a limit, It doesn’t mean we are limited to how we are able to dress. Who says you can’t dress to the nines this holiday season? No fucking body that’s who.
Since this holiday season is different I wanted to step out of my comfort zone in terms of style. In the past my typical holiday outfit would be a christmas sweater and jeans. I made it my mission to be the best dressed, without going broke. What will this season bring me?
A blazer with nothing but a spandex underneath… it’s not as radical as it sounds really, it reminds me of the 80s a little bit. This is simple for when you just wanna throw something on and you like you look rather dashing. You can even add a fun top if with the spandex if you wish.
Next up we have my favorite: The Vest. I don’t know what it is about vests; they are the unsung heroes of fashion. They are so underestimated. For this outfit I paired a black and white vest I thrifted with my velvet pants. This is another seemingly effortless look.
Dramatic I know: Did I ever anticipate that I would wear a party dress to sit in my dining room with my parents to indulge in the same conversation I have with them every other day, but this time surrounded by food specifically made for the holidays? No, but it’s 2020 and there doesn’t seem to be any rules anymore atleast when it comes to fashion.Show up to the dining room table in a prom dress… I dare you! I thrifted this dress for only 8 bucks and it reminds me of the early 2000s prom dress.
Explore every nuance of your closet this holiday season, although we can’t show it off to our friends we can show it off to our family. I wish you a merry everything this Holiday season.
