Paris. It’s such a cliche, Pardon my French… in every fucking movie ever made this guy falls in love with this effortlessly well dressed, flawless French woman. I envy the french woman, they all look like they have their shit together. They’re all so cool but without ever trying to be. How do they do it? How can I achieve the Parisian girl look? Is there an equation out there I’m somehow unaware of?
So I set out on a mission. Living in the time period that we live in, the answer to any of life’s questions is one google or youtube search away. Thank you to Alexa Chung. I found this video Alexa made called “Alexa Chung learns how to dress the French Way.” JackPot!
There’s a certain way the French women dress that you can’t emulate, because They are very trendless, so you can’t pick the same exact things in their closet. They pick one kind pieces that are hard to find because they are. Watching the video I learned that they are on the hunt for classic timeless pieces, pieces that could be trendy today, tomorrow, or five years from now.
Everything that’s just a little bit imperfect when it comes to the French Women. From the makeup, just putting on a little bit goes a long way. Embrace the Imperfections! Or from having a button missing from a top. That’s what makes it unique and one of a kind.
After many hours of research I finally completed my mission. I created a list of some items to start myself Off with and you on your journey to dressing like a Parisian.
Jeans. Not just any old pair of jeans. Jeans that will last you a while. Something timeless. It must fit your figure and hug your body. Something that you can dress up, or dress down.
Stripes, Stripes, and more stripes. Stripes are a staple for any wardrobe, they are a true French classic. Stripes can be in Today, tomorrow, the next day. Kule is your one stop shop for everything stripes,
Buttons ups, button downs? I highly recommend they are so effortless and plus they go with anything, you can wear it with jeans. They are perfect for any given situation. Plus they automatically look 10 times more elegant.
A puffy top? I don’t think a Parisian would agree with me. But I think poof tops are cute and add more oomph to the outfit, plus they are super chic. Idk what do you think?
(Ps don’t forget a black dress)
